DesignWorks. was to be a student-run club uniting graphic design and IxD students at SMC’s Center for Media and Design.

Explore. Engage. Inspire.

Created using html, css, and javascript, the responsive DesignWorks. website was intended to not only offer a space for students to connect and get involved, but also to showcase the people and projects on campus.

While the site doesn’t use animations, it does employ some javascript elements, including a lightbox and code to replace html content on click. (See video below.)

Behind the Scenes

Talks with design students showed they were more interested in socializing and showing/seeing student designs than they were about accessing resources.

With its inclusion of resources, version 1 of the sitemap was deemed too ambitious for the limited number of club officers that would have to maintain the site, sto the site map was simplified.
